Welcome to TryItDad.com, a site to help and celebrate dads (and parents) through articles, experiences, and product reviews.
Hello! My name is Glenn. I am a lot of things to a lot of different people, but my greatest title is Dad. I have been blessed with one son. In the beginning it was very hard, the first 5 months the only sleep I got was on the bus going to and from work.
It was quite a miracle that I arrived to work, and was dressed (mostly matching). Only once was I sent home by a colleague who said, “You are on a delay. Go home and get some sleep” (true story).
In the moment I was exhausted and just wanted (needed) more sleep, but looking back I am so grateful to have had those sleepless moments with my son. The time I spent changing, holding, and rocking my boy was bonding time that has developed into an amazing relationship that has paid me back in the greatest love I have ever experienced.
WHY WE WANT TO HELP DADS (AND PARENTS)
I have 5 years of experience of as a dad, to some that is rookie status but to new dads that is a wealth of experience and information. Although I have some experience, being a dad is something I love and improve on everyday. Helping others is something I have done and enjoyed for as long as I can remember. I have worked in healthcare for many years, was a firefighter/EMT, and currently work at a cancer hospital. So helping is what I do and love to do.
This website is a different kind of helping that I have not done before. Being a dad is a learning process that has and continues to teach me how to be better everyday. Learning to become the best dad I can has been an awesome experience, one that I have become quite passionate about.
Sharing my experience and learning from a community of dads (and other parents) on a potentially large scale will enrich my abilities as a dad, and hopefully help others to reach their full potential. Dads need to be the example for their children.
Being able to share what I try and learn with others on such a potentially large scale will bring me a joy that I have not yet experienced.
THE GOAL OF TRYITDAD.COM
The goal of this site is to celebrate the trials and tribulations of parenting (Dadding), and to help us all be the best we can be for our kids. If what we share on Try It Dad helps a parent make a better decision, not panic, buy better, or just get a laugh at a stressful time then this site has been successful. I hope this site grows into a community that shares secrets and tips to help each other to be the best parents and role models possible.
All the best,
